K1EL WKmini Cable Information

Three cables connect to WKmini:
Paddle Cable: 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo type
USB: Type A to Mini type B
Keying Cable: 1/8" to radio keying plug

A paddle cable is probably already attached to your iambic paddle. If it is a 1/4" style you will need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter in order to plug it into WKmini.

The keying jack on most transceivers is a 1/4" stereo phone type which usually accepts an iambic paddle input. Newer radios are now using an 1/8 inch key input jack. WKmini's output jack is an 1/8" inch stereo receptacle. Disable the radio's internal keyer and connect WKmini's key output directly to the radio's key input jack. We recommended using a stereo connector leaving the ring unconnected.

WKmini uses a standard Type A to Mini Type B USB cable.

You can buy WKmini with or without cables. The cable kit, shown below, includes a USB cable and also a universal keying cable kit which should work with any radio. The keying cable has an 1/8" stereo plug on each. One end plugs into WKmini's key output jack and the other end can go directly into your transceiver if it has an 1/8" key input jack. If your radio has a 1/4" key input jack, use the 1/8" to 1/4" stereo plug adapter supplied with the kit.
